When you’re putting up any files on your site, or graphics or even webpages, make sure you’re using meaningful file names. Actually this SEO practice probably had more weight in the past than now, but it is easy to do and certainly will not hurt. But you do not want to use a secondary keyword in this instance; instead, make it the primary. Also, avoid using underscores when you do this and do use the hyphen. This is strictly a practice for the benefit of the search bots so they can read them easier. This is a relatively small measure that may be useful for your visitors in addition to the search bots. It really is kind of hard to go wrong with a web design that is simple but gets the job done very well. The opposite is very unattractive to many people, and it can make people frustrated trying to use it. You have to ensure that whatever you do, the design should be minimalistic in nature and there shouldn’t be anything unnecessary. The design can be more complex, but if so then you have to do your site layout planning very well. Even when you’re using ads, ensure that it doesn’t look crowded, because that would only work against you. You do not have to do a very simplistic type of design, but you can explore the possibility.

Of course you need to make sure that your content is the main attraction because it is. We would always tell people to forget using Flash because it is just a big whistle people like to blow. Flash can be very distracting, but if there is not a lot of written content then it could be all right to use.

Another consideration is browser loading time, and if you are doing SEO then that is important. One easy solution is simply providing a link to a different page that does not contain Flash if you have a lot of content to display. You should always think about usability when you are considering the use of Flash.

Website design is a vast and huge area of study, but you do not need to learn it all to make a great site that people love. You can always make changes to your site design, but it is generally not a good idea to make large changes.
